HI, I'M A JUNIOR SAVER AT CROSSHAVEN CARRIGALINE CREDIT UNION

As well as saving nuts for the cold winter, I also regularly save money in the junior credit union account I have at the credit union. When I can, I do my best to save any money I receive for doing jobs around the house along with any money I get for my birthday and at Christmas. As a junior saver at Crosshaven Carrigaline Credit Union, I have been given a Junior Saver card to help me keep an eye on what I am saving. Every time I lodge €5 into my savings account, the credit union gives me a sticker for my card. This card holds 10 stickers, so once it's filled,

this means I will have saved €50. WOOOOOW!!!!

HOW DO YOU BECOME A JUNIOR SAVER LIKE ME?

As I'm doing so well with my savings, the Credit Union has decided to invite primary school children to join me and become regular savers as well!! Just like what they did for me, when a Junior Member first calls to the Credit Union, they will be given a junior saver card to keep track of their savings. They will also be given a little gift from the Credit Union. Every time they lodge €5 into their account, they will receive a sticker for their Savings Card. Once they have filled this card, they can bring it to either of our branches where it will be kept safely for them.

Each year, before the summer holidays:

  • A student from each participating school will be randomly selected and presented with a Junior Savings Voucher, which they will be able to lodged into their Junior Savings Account.
  • One of the participating school will be selected and presented with a Voucher, which they will be able to use to purchase some computer equipment for their school.

As well as our Junior Savers Cards and Stamps, the Credit Union will also have competitions that children will be able to enter throughout the year.

Does your child know the importance of saving?

Our Junior Savers Account is designed for our junior members so that they learn to save their money and, in time, buy things they want to buy.

Why have a Junior Savers Account?

Opening a Junior Savers Account is important for your child's future. It teaches them life skills like planning, budgeting, money management and the value of money and their purchases.

Your child's Junior Saver Account will become a Full Members Account when they turn 16. We hope this is the start of their lifelong relationship with us here at Crosshaven Carrigaline Credit Union.

How does it work?

  • Existing Junior Saver: If your child already has a junior savings account, the next time they call into the credit union to lodge money, all they need to do is ask for a Junior Saver Card. With their first card, they will be given a gift from the Credit Union.

  • New Junior Saver: If your child is not yet a member, you will first need to make an application for them to become a member. This can be done online by clicking here. Just like existing junior savers, all new savers will also be given their first Junior Saver Card, along with a small gift from the credit union.

  • Every time €5 is lodged into their junior savers account, they will be given a sticker to put in their card. Once a card is full, they can bring this to either the Crosshaven or Carrigaline branch, where we use it to determine prize winners. These winneres will be selected and presented with their prizes before the summer holidays.

one student from each participating school will be randomly selected and presented with a JUNIOR SAVER VOUCHER that they will be able to lodge into their account.

We will also present one of the participating schools with a voucher to allow them purchase computer equipment for their school.
